Sixty-five is considered the youngest age that regular (sporadic) Alzheimer's can develop, however in recent years there has been a rise in cases of Early Onset Alzheimer's. Any time a person develops Alzheimer's prior to their 65th birthday it is considered Early Onset Alzheimer's.

Early Onset Alzheimer's can develop as young as 40 or even younger. This form of the disease is also known as the "familial" form because it has the tendency to run in families. In recent years there has been a rise in cases where individuals develop Early Onset Alzheimer's even though there was no family history of the disease.

Today there are approximately 700,000 Americans with Early Onset Alzheimer's disease.
